This is a beautiful bike, my grandson just loves it. It was delivered the next day. We had to take it to a bike shop for assembly but it was well worth it.

Son Loves The Bike - Dad is So So
My son just turned 10 and we bought him this bike. He had a more mountain-ish style bike before with 7 speeds, but really wanted a BMX or Freestyle bike.

First of all, this bike looks great. Nice graphics, and the color is different - in a good way. Build quality seems good, and it was a breeze to put together. I'm handy that way, but I don't think this would be a problem for most. Only a few basic tools required. The one issue I had during assembly was when I was adjusting the brakes the little cap on the end of the rear brake cable came off - the thing that keeps the brake cable strands from unraveling. I soldered the strands together, but it was extra work that I didn't need.

This is definitely not a high-end trick bike. It's VERY HEAVY. I can't remember what the weight was listed on the product description, but it feels more like an adult bike. What I do recall is that, after looking at a number of other choices, it was actually one of the lighter bikes available. But it is heavy. Did I say that enough times? It's not like my kid is going to be doing a lot of jumps and tricks any time soon, so he doesn't really notice. And hopefully the weight is a function of how durably built the frame is. (Just trying to be positive here.)

One really big downside is with the brakes. Or shall I say, the lack of brakes. This thing stops about as fast as the Queen Mary coming into port with a drunk skipper at the helm. I'm not sure if it's the pads or what - I can tell you that they are properly adjusted. I'm going to replace them before next spring just to find out, but it's definitely something to consider. I keep reminding my son to remember that he can't stop as fast as he could with his other bike. Hopefully some suicidal turkey won't jump out in front of him while he flying down the hill.

I'm only giving it 3 stars, but to me that's about a strong "C." Of all the bikes I did look at I would still probably choose this one despite the brake issue. He's loving it and, when we were looking, this is the one he said he liked - based strictly on the picture. It seems durable and will hopefully last quit a long time, and for the price I'd find it hard to beat.
